Blog – Page 5 – Wear Orange Wednesdays

First Kids’ Opening Day was a thrill for me and believe that many families and kids thoroughly enjoyed the entire days activities. Kids were invited to join each player on the field, as well as join Buck for National Anthem while a young man sang the National Anthem. Buck and his kid presented the lineup to the umpires prior to game. Another kid was chosen to give the lineup at Oriole Park. And of course a kid was chosen to steal 2nd base at the appropriate time. Orioles Braided Necklaces were the giveaway for the day and Kids Ran the Bases after the game. A few photos are posted in 2015 Gallery. Most hope it will be repeated next season. Thanks Orioles!!!

2015 Opening Day was a terrific day except for a few things. Many were disappointed that the traditional magnetic schedule was not the giveaway but instead a Fathead Decal page. My friend, Judy Moskowitz, was looking for her magnetic schedule to add to her collection as was I. I provided the new 2015 Fathead Decal which contained a schedule to Judy and she provided me an older magnet from 2002 to use to attach my fathead decal schedule. I learned that some parents thought their kids would love the Fathead Decals. Sure hope so!!

While Bud Norris didn’t have a good outing and the O’s lost Opening Day, it was still a great day to have Orioles baseball back and looking to a great 2015 season. Sure hope your day was OMAZING!!!

Yesterday, I taped an interview with Bryan Nehman of WBAL-1090am radio as a result of request from Jacob Young, Maryland’s Morning News Now Producer. Plans are to air the edited version Friday morning at 6:50am. If that time changes, I’ll let you know. Anyway, had another wonderful opportunity to share how Wear Orange Wednesdays began and how far I think we have come. Sure hope you will tune in. Always hope to hear from you.

Excited about 2015 Opening Day and looking forward to seeing our beloved O’s in person at Oriole Park at Camden Yards! Of course I’m also hoping to see everyone in #ORANGE and maybe even bring along your RALLY TOWEL from the PLAYOFFS! I’ll be hanging at Dempsey’s with friends if you want to stop by and say HELLO! GO O’s!!! And here’s to another great day of Orioles baseball!

Fortunately, I have my Twitter friend, Chuck Broemmel, who watched the morning news this morning because I overslept! He not only helps me with Tweets for WOW! but also to say thanks to our media friends. He Tweeted that all three stations, WJZ, WBAL, and ABC2 were WOW! today!!! That’s the earliest I’ve ever had their support. Thanks to our local broadcasters for their continued, loyal support as we get closer to OPENING DAY, APRIL 10TH!!!

Today I started delivering our 2015 postcards to our business partners. First on my mental list was Dempsey’s where I gave a few to Manager Leroy. He gave me some exciting news that 105.7 The Fan will be pre-broadcasting from Dempsey’s this season rather than Pickles Pub. And they will be there on Opening Day!

Next I visited Great Moments – Camden Yards and spoke with Manager Glenn who loved our new postcards and is very excited about the coming season as we get closer each day. I then drove to Great Moments – White Marsh and spoke with Lauren who is the owner’s daughter. She offered to deliver postcards to Timonium and Westminster for me. Thanks sooo much for the help!!!

Last on my trips today was to Poor Boys – Dundalk. Neither Owners Mike nor Tracie were there but a long-time employee graciously took postcards for them.

BTW, all of these businesses are thrilled for the 2015 Baltimore Orioles Season to begin and have lots of O’s gear and as always great food and drink and Dempsey’s! Please stop by for a visit…they would love to see you especially in ORANGE!!!

Yesterday, Marty Bass showed our new website on WJZ-TV to kick-off the WOW Season for 2015!!! I managed to shoot a video of shout-out for you and it is posted on Orange Wednesdays-Baltimore Orioles FB page with a link to @woworioles Twitter account.

What a sincere thrill it was for me to see it on-air plus have such positive comments from Marty Bass and Ron Matz during morning news.

WJZ and their broadcast team has been extremely helpful in supporting WOW! Wear Orange Wednesdays pretty much from its inception. Just know how grateful I am for their local media support. U R the BEST — THANK YOU, WJZ!!!

WearOrangeWednesdays.com has arrived just eleven days before our AWAY OPENER!

I am sooo excited and hope you will take some time to look over the site and give me or share any comments either on FB, Twitter or right on the site as to what you think. Of course, I hope you LOVE it as I do.

My plan is to write a blog weekly to provide any news bulletins I think you may be interested in seeing.

On Saturday, April 25th, during the 3rd inning of the Orioles vs Boston 7:05pm game — the scoreboard will show birthdays and anniversaries. They will scroll in alphabetical order and WEAR ORANGE WEDNESDAYS – 3RD will appear near the end. We hope you will join us as we celebrate getting on the JUMBOTRON and being recognized by the Baltimore Orioles at a game. Please be sure to WEAR ORANGE as usual and cheer as we are recognized.
