The Baltimore Orioles announced today that Adam Jones is winner of the MLB Players Alumni Association’s Heart and Hustle Award! Adam was selected by a committee of Orioles alumni organized by MLBPAA. “Jones will be honored as the current Orioles player who demonstrates a passion for the game of baseball and best embodies the values, spirit, and tradition of the game. Congrats ADAM — you more than deserve this award!!!
I met Sharon “Pinkee” Pinkerton on FB of course and learned she is a HUGE Orioles Fan! She messaged me earlier that she wanted to design poster and kept sending me photos as she developed her vision. I was thrilled! Wear Orange Wednesdays has never made it on Jumbotron except for our 3rd Anniversary that was shown on scoreboard.
Sharon messaged me how hard she was trying to get some attention. I said you may not get on TV but we have friends at MASN who may put you on Jumbotron. She messaged me seconds later — HER POSTER WAS SHOWN ON JUMBOTRON!!!
Congratulations Sharon!! We sooo appreciate your support, creativity and hard work to have your shown at The Yard!!! You are truly OMAzing!!!
Just wanted to remind you that most videos we have shot are available here on our website just by clicking on YouTube link. Of course they are also available on our Orange Wednesdays – Baltimore Orioles FB page, but maybe a little more difficult to find. Hope you enjoy them!!!
While the attendance (a little over 20,000) may have fallen short of a true Opening Day, players seemed happy to be home as were fans to attend this game. My seat was in Sec 20 Row 12 – just to the right of the O’s dugout. Manny’s lead-off homerun– followed by a 2-run homeroom by Chris Davis was a great 1st inning to start the night. Ubaldo pitched a great great game completing 7 innings – defense played well – and Delmon’s catch in right field was unbelievable! Players were throwing balls near me into seats after each inning. Fans were thrilled! It was a great night for baseball. I didn’t notice until much later that players wore BALTIMORE across their chests on their white home jerseys. Pride and loyalty seemed to be a message from players to fans and fans to players. Signage consisted of Baltimore flag, posters for Charm City and BELIEVE in Baltimore among a few. Be sure to check out a few photos from the night and videos from fan who created the event on social media and Buck postgame comments. Hope you enjoyed this night as much as I did! Go O’s!!!
A suggestion was made on social media that May 11th be a ReOpening Day at Oriole Park at Camden Yards!! It has been hailed as a great idea and is spreading across FB and Twitter. Jim Hunter of MASN has mentioned several times during games from The Tropicana Field. I am asking of course that you WEAR ORANGE and plan to attend the ReOpening Day at OPACY!!! It should be a great day to show support for our beloved Orioles and our City. GO ORIOLES!!!
Freddie Gray’s death after being arrested became the cause of a tumultuous weekend of riots and looting in several areas of Baltimore. A curfew was created and the National Guard called in at the request of the Mayor. The Baltimore Orioles were impacted first with our 3rd Anniversary game on 4/25/15 where fans were asked to remain in the Yard due to unrest and concern for their safety. Two games were postponed as unrest continued. And then came the historic game which was played with police at the gates and no fans in attendance. Caleb Joseph faked in a video signing autographs for fans and Chris Davis threw balls into the stands as well as hit a homerun on Eutaw Street. I asked fans to WEAR ORANGE to support #Baltimore and many did including most of our MASN announcers. The Tampa Bay Rays series was moved to Tropicana Field where we were the HOME TEAM. The Oriole Bird accompanied them and even performed 7th Inning Stretch Tradition along with their mascot to “Thank God I’m A Country Boy!” The Maryland States Attorney indicted the police involved in arrest which changed the nature of weekend gatherings to one of celebration and expanded support for JUSTICE FOR ALL from other cities in the US. In spite of a most stressful and depressing week for many, our curfew has been lifted and many have already begun to rebuild. I am hopeful that Orioles’ fans will look for ways to get involved and help with rebuilding and of course, support our local small businesses. Let’s go BALTIMORE not only please support our TEAM but our CITY! THANK YOU…
As I was following the MASN Live Chat with fans on Facebook this Wednesday, April 22nd, I couldn’t believe what I heard but it really happened… Jim Hunter said — as MASN camera showed a few Orioles fans — it’s Orange Wednesday!!! What a thrill it was to hear thisshout out during an Orioles game and Jim who embraced the tradition early was also wearing his ORANGE tie!!! Quite a special day for WOW!!!
On Saturday, April 25th, during the 3rd inning of the Orioles vs Boston 7:05 pm game – the scoreboard will show birthdays and anniversaries. They will scroll in alphabetical order and WEAR ORANGE WEDNESDAYS – 3RD will appear near the end. I have 25 fans joining me in ORANGE to celebrate this OMAZING WOW day! We have tickets together in Section 65 and hope if you attend you will help us CHEER as it rolls by and we attempt to catch a photo for our history!!! You can be sure photos will follow. I want to specifically thank Kevin Roberts, Valerie & John Spangler, and Pat & Joy Riley for joining me on Saturday. Hoping that you will WEAR ORANGE as we continue to show our support for our beloved team at The Yard and on WEAR ORANGE WEDNESDAYS! Thanks all and GO O’s!!!
